all in a day’s work
My day started early today. K~’s alarm went off extra early for some odd reason and rather than going back to sleep, her tired mind decided she had to get up and get ready for school. By 6:15am she was completely ready and turned on the tv to watch cartoons. She doesn’t have to leave for the bus stop until 7:25am. When I heard the tv I came down and explained (not very nicely, I confess) she needed to go back to her room and go back to bed until at least 7:00am. And never wake mom up that early again! Unfortunately, she also woke Zeeb which meant he needed to come into our bed. Which of course means I didn’t get any more sleep after that. sigh.
Zeeb is still complaining about his teeth every now and then. I called the dentist and got him an ‘emergency’ appointment for tomorrow morning. I’m really hoping whatever is bothering him is simple to fix because I just don’t see him laying back and opening wide for very long.
This afternoon I had to get K~ out of school early to go to the doctor for a physical so she can join the middle school track team. She got two shots – TDaP and Meningitis. She wasn’t too happy about that – my girl really doesn’t like shots one bit. I was just glad they didn’t push the HPV vaccine on her. (I was prepared for it though… thinking of all the very good arguments against giving the vaccine to 11-12 year old girls that E. spelled out on her blog.)
Thankfully my day ended much more sweetly than it began…
“My yo’ baby.” Zeeb said as I kissed him good night.
“Yes Zeeb, you are my baby boy. I love you.”
“Luh’ you too, mom.”

I snuck into R~ and Zeeb’s room because I heard someone rustling around and I thought there might be a little trouble making afoot. I found Zeeb sound asleep, and R laying in bed, wide awake.
“Mom”, she whispered, “I learned how to snap!” and then she demonstrated a very fine little snap for me. Such talent!
That Dingo is My Baby!

You like the mask? R~ painted it for her Kindergarten Australian Corroboree. As Hubby says, this is one of those projects where you can tell exactly how much the parents “helped”. I confess, we did “help” quite a lot – but R~ did the painting all by herself, and it was her idea to make a Dingo mask, so I think that’s pretty “independent” work for a 5 year old. Anyway, she’s rather proud of herself.
