staph: the gift that keeps on giving

Woke up this morning to find my right eye all pink colored and watery and super sensitive to light. Hmm… that’s not normal. Checked out WebMD and what do you know, pink eye can be caused by a staph infection. Oh joy. Off to the doctor where I got a prescription for antibiotic drops and orders not to wear my contacts until a day or two after the pink eye is gone. Which was exactly what I did not want to hear because I hate wearing my glasses. I haven’t gotten new frames in probably 5 years (or maybe longer?) because normally I wear my glasses for all of 10 minutes each day - between taking out my contacts and going to sleep. I feel weird and self-conscious in my glasses. And I don’t see as well. And I look like a dork. Can I just go hide in a quiet dark room for the next 4-5 days? Please?

You poor thing… I’m so sorry. Hope it heals quickly!

I’m sorry for you, I hate pink eye! I had it in both eyes at once one time. It sucked.
Oh, and about the glasses. I think you deserve to go get an updated pair that makes you feel better about wearing them. (After the pink eye is gone, of course!) If you have to wear glasses, you might as well have ones in style that you like, that’s my motto. I don’t wear my glasses often, but if I have to, I want to look good in them. Go ahead, you’re worth it!

Sorry about your pink eye! Hope the drops make it better quickly.

Yuck! I’m sorry about the pink eye. But even sorrier you have to wear glasses. I’ve worn contacts for nearly 30 years and only wear my glasses to get from bathroom to bedroom and back. My frames, though, are 18 years old. My children laugh at them. I would do almost anything than wear them out in public. (Hmmm, maybe I should finally get some new ones… ;)

Awww man! That stinks! I hope the drops work quickly and I second Char’s suggestion. I think it may be time to get ya some new glasses!

Oh that sucks. Pinkeye is no fun…also, glasses, no fun.

I have the same problem with my glasses - except I don’t even have glasses with the correct prescription! I refuse to wear them unless my contacts have been glued to my eyes. Which, I guess is a possibility with pink eye :)

Feel better soon!

Ewww…we had a pink eye outbreak last month. NOT FUN. I hope it clears up quickly. I understand about the glasses thing…but last year I went ahead and got 2 news frames that I actually like and I’ve barely worn my contacts since. It’s just so much easier to throw on a pair of glasses in the morning!
